“Chosen By God”

When you are selected or chosen by God, your life will go through a series of tests and trials to prepare you for your God-given purpose. It is not to scare you or deter you but to place you on the right path God has designed specifically for your life. There are a few things you should know and expect as a chosen vessel of God.

1.) YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN

When you dedicate your life to God, you are surrendering your will to His will for your life. You become a vessel for God to use to accomplish His specific task. Your body becomes His temple, therefore, there are certain things that we should steer away from such as sin. These things can cause harm or even disconnect us from the spirit of God operating fully in our lives.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?”– 1 Corinthians 6:19

2.) TESTS AND TRIALS WILL NOT CONSUME YOU

Don’t find it strange if you are living according to God’s Word and it seems like everything around you is falling apart. Sometimes God needs to bring us to a place where all we can do is trust and depend on Him.

Know that God is in complete control and whatever you are going through will not consume you. It will only bring you closer to God so He can reveal His purpose for your life.

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you“-1 Peter 4:12

3.) COUNT IT ALL JOY

Praising God during a storm proves to God that you trust Him. I tell the Lord all the time, God I may not understand but I know that you are working this out for my good (Romans 8:28), therefore I choose to praise you.

Sometimes praise is the only thing left. When all you have left is your praise, you are closer than you think to your purpose. When your back is against the wall, lift up your hands in worship because that wall is about to come down just like the wall of Jericho.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you k now that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness“-James 1:2-3

The chosen life is not a simple life. If you are looking for a problem free life than you are not ready to be used by God. He needs strong soldiers that aren’t afraid of the devil and will fight to bring down his kingdom! God has nothing but greatness in store for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Be strong and of good courage knowing that you at part of “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”- 1Peter 2:9

Be Still And Know….

God’s timing often does appear exactly at the right time. Even though we try to rush God. Today, I have been worried about so much that has been going on within my life. As Christians, we know we should not worry, because worrying is a sin. God knows the flesh is weak and we tend to worry about things. But, I prayed to God to give me the strength not to worry about things that we have no control over.

God does not want us to worry. He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can think or even imagine (Ephesians 3:20). God said in His word; “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10). Know that He have good plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11), know that you can trust in me (Proverbs 3:5-6), and know that I will direct your steps (Proverbs 16:9). Above all else, know that you don’t need to know, I am going to take care of you; because when you can’t see the road ahead you can trust that I can”.

In our own lives, in our daily and mundane routines we can often forget, “Be still and Know”. Know that God has it, know that He covers it and know that He is taking care of it. But how do we get there? How do we get to a place of such trust that we can leave something or someone that is so precious to us into the hands of a loving God? How can we let go and let God?

In my own life, I have realized it is simple; Surrender. To let go and let God, we truly have to surrender all. All that we are, all that we want to be and all the expectations of how we think it should be, we need to give it to Him. To surrender it all to Him is to trust Him with all. But, surrender is a daily process, a place in the moments of each day, in the midst of our worries where we have a choice we can either hold on or we can let go and let God in faith.

We can pray, “I give it all to you Lord: my hurts, my scars, my frustrations; I trust you with every circumstance I may face and I trust you with the comings and goings of each and every day”.

Today, surrender all of your life to Christ and allow Him to reveal your talents and purpose for you to be who He created you to be!! God wants us to give Him our all, so He can perform a GREAT work in us!!!

“Waging War”

Though you may not face such an overt attack on your family, the truth is that spiritual warfare exists. We have a very real enemy, Satan, who wants nothing more than to destroy our lives, our thoughts, and our walks with Jesus (John 10:10). He, along with his hoard of demons, roams the earth, seeking ways to wreak havoc on God’s kingdom (1 Peter 5:8). Unfortunately, we tend to live in two extremes: as though Satan doesn’t exist or as though he’s bigger than God. Neither is correct! Satan does exist.

He’s a created being who use to experience the paradise of God. For one defining moment, he overted his eyes from God’s glory and rejoiced in his own (Ezekiel 28:12-15). In that, he rebelled, deceiving a third of the angels in heaven (Revelation 12:4). And he’s waged war ever since. God sent His son for a specific purpose. The one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: “to destroy the devils work” (1 John 3:8).

And destroy, He did. Every encounter Jesus had with demons ended in VICTORY for God. And on the cross, He dealt the final blow-Jesus died for the very sin Satan incited in the Garden of Eden. With that as a backdrop, we don’t need to fear. We serve a conquering, powerful God who has destroyed Satan’s work. Because of the cross and the amazing resurrection, we have power to defeat the enemy’s plans. But how?  What are some things we can do when we feel attacked?

But your first response to a spiritual attack shouldn’t be panic, but prayer. In our strength, we can’t fight. But, when we ask God for help and seek His power, then we experience VICTORY. Unfortunately, we can’t micromanage difficult situations. We can’t orchestrate outcomes. We are not God. God is bigger than the situation. He’s the sovereign ONE who runs the Universe without our help. The fact that we sleep every night and the world keeps running around us, testifies to this.

Spiritual warfare exists. Just look around this crazy world we live in for evidence. But we don’t need to fret and wiring our hands, even if it’s our loved ones in the middle of a mire. Remember, we can pray. Remind yourself of the truth. Refuse to let fear have its way in your life. If Satan can get you to believe God is a punishing, demanding, harsh, and altogether an abusive grump, then he wins. Sure, you still believe statements that God is love, that He created everything and that He sent His son to die because of His love for us.

But when hard times come, do you see Him as sad for your pain in the struggle, tenderly holding you in His arms, weeping with you as He wept for Lazarus siblings, reed up over the poison sin leaks over the world? Or do you see Him as a distant  observer telling you that this horrible ordeal is making you more Christ-like, so toughen up? “Therefore, the Lord is waiting to show you mercy and is rising up to show you compassion” (Isaiah 30:18).

As you may noticed, the Christian life is not always a walk in the park. We experience the grace and peace that come from a relationship with Jesus Christ but we also fight every day against temptations, tests, and trials that come our way to maintain a fruitful and flourishing relationship with God. It can become an overwhelming challenge that can leave us hopeless at times, especially if we do not maintain the correct perspective about what it means to live for God.

What it Takes to Keep It Real

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. Psalm 119:9

In a world that is absolutely obsessed  with appearance and image, how in the world do you keep it real when everybody else is faking it? They don’t have integrity. They’re scooting by and they’re skimming and cheating. They’re not keeping their promises.

How do you keep it real?

There’s only one way. You’ve got to care more about God’s  approval than the approval of other people. That’s the only way you’ll ever become a man or woman of integrity. Because if you care about what God thinks, then you’re going to do the right thing. If you care more about what other people think, you’re often going to do the wrong thing.

The only way you’re going to know what God approves of and what He thinks of you is reading the Bible. You must stay in God’s Word! If you don’t, you will not have the strength and the stamina to live with integrity. If I don’t have a daily quiet time with God in the Word, if I miss it for even a few days, I notice it-everyone notices it!- because I start getting cranky.

If I don’t stay connected to God through His Word, I would not have any spiritual power to clearly explain the Word of God to you or would not have the strength to live with. Living with integrity takes spiritual power, because what is right is often unpopular. You’re going to get tired trying to do the right thing and be real and keep the right motives, but you need to be equipped and refreshed.

I’ve learned going throughout my daily life on how to just keep it real in all circumstances. When Jesus walked this earth, He kept it real and preached the truth. I think we as peopled need to follow those same footsteps as Christ. If we as adults can keep it real by studying the Word of God, we will set a great example for our youth.

It’s not easy at times, but God knows everything we face in this life time. We must be renewed in His Word so we can be able to keep it REAL with others!!!

You do that by reading and studying the Bible, God’s Word.
