“Keep Praying For Your Children”

The world can be an evil place; a scary place; a dangerous place. When it comes to thinking about the safety of our children in this world, our minds often instantly turn to senseless tragedies in recent years like the Columbine or the massacre in Sandy Hook, CT, where so many innocent children lost their lives in school, a place where we assume our children are going to be safe from all harm. How many of us heard the news that day, filled with such anguish and empathy towards those hurting parents, and immediately sought out our own kids– to hold, maybe just a little tighter than usual?

While the weeks that followed the Sandy Hook shooting became heated politically, we parents were still left with the responsibility to see to it that our children are protected whenever they are not in our sight. We have made sure all the necessary precautions are in place at school (or church or whatever club that takes them out of our care for periods of time or with friends). The safety specialists have been brought in, and procedures have been changed to ensure tighter safety measures are being followed to protect our kids. But can we do more?

Each morning I wake up or when I dropped my kids off at school  I  prayed for God’s blessing of protection on them throughout the day. In Jesus’ name I cover them both with supernatural, angelic protection, and in His name I also bind Satan and all his evil from touching them. I don’t just pray for my kids, but I pray for the youth as a whole. I’ve also prayed that huge angels stand at the corners of the school buildings, guarding all the children from any harm that may try to enter. I know that GOD is a protector and He is everything we stand in need of. But I know how BIG my God is, and that He is faithful to all He has promised.

As parents, we have to cover our children in prayer daily because Satan, that adversary is after them. If he can’t get to you, then he is most definitely after your kids. PLEASE, I repeat, DONT allow Satan to have your kids, nor turn them over to him, instead turn them over to the LORD and allow Him to help you with your kids. Even if your kids are in a rebellious state, disobedient, etc. it’s not them, it’s and evil and wicked spirit that is hovering over them but it’s going to take GOD and you along with prayer, faith, obedience, and patience to overcome. No matter what, never STOP praying for your children! I know sometimes they may make you mad, but look at it this way: GOD, our Father is longsuffering with us, He don’t treat us as our sins deserve, we disobey Him all the time but He is FAITHFUL and JUST to forgive us, so that means, we have to be forgiving and longsuffering towards our kids.

Keep FIGHTING for your children!!! I recently found out that Jehovah-Nissi, God’s name in Hebrew, literally means “One who delivers, preserves, shelters, covers and watches over us”! God really is the Great Protector! Parents, we must call on God for His protection over our children. The question you may have is, does God protect us in EVERY situation? If so, then why did Sandy Hook happen? Or any other event happen?  Why does tragedy happen at all? That’s a fair question.

While I’m far from a Bible scholar, my best answer would be, living in a world where God has given us free will, we end up making choices that can contribute to personal hardships, pain, and loss. Remember, Jesus said this would happen in our lives. Life on Earth is not perfect. Even though we do have free will to make our own choices, we must remember that God’s will for us does remain perfect. Pray often. Take your thoughts and actions captive. (2 Corinthians 10:5) Stay in God’s Word. Remember God is faithful, even when are not.

Here are some Scriptural references that will help you in covering your children in prayers of protection:

Genesis 28:15 And, Behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

Psalm 18:2-3 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;  my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.

Psalm 91: 1,2, 10-12 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Isaiah 43:1-3 But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

Finding The Desire To Hear God

In life, we experience so much, and so many got to experience what it feels like to not be listened to, feeling anger and frustration. I had a discussion with someone on what is important when listening, ability or the desire to listen? Overwhelmingly, people said they were now realizing how important it is to want to listen. The principle in the Scriptures teach us the way to live holy lives. But in order to receive God’s instructions, we must learn how to hear Him speak through His Word. In the days of Nehemiah, the Israelites wo helped rebuild Jerusalem were good listeners. After working together to restore the city wall, they asked Ezra to read to them from the scrolls containing God’s laws.

The reading lasted for hours, during which time the people stood and listened intently as the scribe read. They had come together, intent on learning about God’s character and determined to follow His plan. For this reason, the Levites translated, “to give the sense so that the people understood the reading” (Nehemiah 8:8). Understanding what pleases the Lord is essential so we can obey His plan. That means we must  be good listeners who develop greater, attentiveness and zeal for Him, so that when we hear His Word being preached, we will be filled with the desire to hear it.

As we learn, we should be prepared not only to share the Word with others but also to explain it so they, too, can know God and obey. Thought: The voice of God might be coming from places we don’t expect it. As seekers of God’s holy way, we must constantly keep our ears open to His Word, whether it comes from a church leader or from a child. At the same time, we must stay vigilant and use judgment to make sure that what we are hearing is not from someone trying to deceive us and lead us away from God’s plan.

“Giving Up Is Not An Option”

Just when I thought everything is going perfect in your life, life will throw you another curve ball. It may feel like everything is falling apart, maybe losing your home, finances at a standstill, receiving more bills and becoming drowned in debt like never before, it may be a job loss, divorce, serious illness, or the death of a loved one. You may not know what to do. Nobody is immune to life’s trials and adversities. We all will experience them, only at varying degrees. These situations can cause us to be confused, afraid, depressed, anxious, and even angry.

All those feelings are completely normal. We are humans, we are imperfect, and we are flawed. But after recognizing all our emotions. We must come to terms with our situation. We’ve got to face our problems head on. When faced with adversities and insurmountable circumstances, you have access to a 24/7 hotline to heaven. When you feel down and weary, talk to God. Talking helps. He understands and He cares. He feels your pain and all your emotions. Pour out your heart to Him and you’ll find your mind is renewed after spending quality time in prayer.

God is always with you, “yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil”. For you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me“-Psalm 23:4. Circumstances like these can shake your world and throw everything out of order where you may find that some things are out of your control and that causes a tremendous fear in your heart. Do not be afraid. The future may be unknown and uncertain, but you must remember that whatever happens, God will never leave you nor forsake you.

The difficult times sometimes must happen so that God can accomplish His purpose for you. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”-Jeremiah 29:11. There is a quote that says, “A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor”. I believe that to be true because you may have lost a job or your relationship may have failed, but some things happen to mold us into the person God wants us to be. It may be hard to comprehend but we can take comfort knowing God never makes mistakes and He knows what is best for us.

You are stronger than you think, do not let negative thoughts cloud your mind. Focus on the positive and try to find the silver lining in every situation. You can raise above all this, you just must find your light and not let the darkness thwart it. Giving up is not an option. Your situation may seem hopeless. It may seem like it is the end. There will be days that it will feel like this, but God is your ever-present help in time of need. You can trust Him to give you the grace and strength to make it through any trial.

His Workmanship

We are the workmanship- the creation- of God. He took time to form us in His image. When He created us, He desired that we enjoy and prosper in our relationship with Him. At the beginning of time, before the Fall, there was no pain or suffering. Man was left to flourish, multiply, and enjoy the best of what God had created for them. God created us with love. He has loved us from the beginning of time and He actually intended for us to live a perfect life of fulfillment. The work that man was required to do was work that He enjoyed.

Unfortunately, this all changed after the Fall of Man. Evil entered the world and so did pain and sorrow. Things changed for mankind. We became at war with the world and with one another. But in a world filled with trials and tribulations of many sorts, we can be confident because we are loved by God and we know that the plans that He has for us will always work us. Think of it like this, God managed to sort out the greatest thing of our lives- our salvation.

Without Jesus Christ, we would all be damned to hell and there would be nothing that could save us. But God, out of His endless love for us, sent His son to take the fall for us so that we would be able to live. We are loved by God and, as His children, we love Him too. We have been created with a purpose; God has a plan for our lives. After the Fall, God did not turn His back on mankind. He could have chosen to wipe everyone out and start again but He could not do that. The love He had for man was too much for Him to try and wipe them all out. Instead, He came up with a redemption plan that came in the form of Jesus.

While we may not be able to live in that paradise right now, a time will come where we will. When Jesus returns, we will live a more glorious life-free of all evil, pain, and sorrow. Until then, we will hold fast to God’s promises and root our Hope in Him. Now, as Christians, we walk confidently because we know of where we are headed. We have received eternal life. A life that will not be revoked from us because of the love that we have for God. In a world filled with hopelessness and uncertainty, we can walk with our heads held high because we know that all is truly well with our lives.

If God could turn around our eternity, the greatest thing in our lives, for us, what can’t He do? Is there anything more important than the fate of our eternity? No! So walk tall, dear believer, and know that you are covered.

“Better Days Are Coming”

Have you ever felt like that your back was up against a brick wall? Have there been so many obstacles that are coming your way and you feel as if there is no way out? Are you struggling financially? Are you having health issues? Are you having problems with the kids? Problems at your job? It could be so much that you have been battling with and it may even be death in your family and it seems that you can’t get a grip or catch a break. You may even feel all alone….It could be rough in this world, but I know it is not easy but hang on in there because better days are coming.

Sometimes you may feel happy sometimes you may feel sad, but you must remember that better days are coming. I just love the song “Better Days” by Le’Andria Johnson. When I listen to that song, it gives me encouragement and reminds me that better days are really coming. We have not seen our best days yet, keep striving for perfection and living the life GOD has purposed for you to live. When you are going through the trials and tribulations in your life I want to encourage you to keep smiling because everything will be alright and reflect on this scripture:

Psalm 121

1I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

I read these scriptures and it reminds me that all of our help comes from the LORD. GOD will make a way of escape for you when you are going through. I”ve learned that you have to go through, to get through! If GOD allowed you to go through it, HE will get you through it. Let’s face it, we all have issues and oppositions everyday that we face, but I want to remind you not to give up, give in, or lose hope in GOD because it will get better because GOD is in control.

Sometimes we have to allow nature to take it’s course and play the hand that we have been dealt. When we go through things in life, it could be a test of our faith.  I want to encourage you to keep the faith because GOD will make it better, we are HIS children and HE said in HIS Word that HE will never leave nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). You may can’t see your way right now but trust and believe that GOD is behind the scenes working every detail out in your life right now.

Stay focused in this season and don’t allow the devil to shake your faith. Just because you see someone else may be prospering but here you are living for GOD and doing what GOD has instructed you to do and they are not serving GOD. Listen the grass is not always greener on the other side. Sometimes I use to think to myself, why am I not prospering, was it something I was doing wrong, Lord? But now I understand how the enemy try to plant those bad seeds and thoughts in our heads to make us believe that GOD is not going to take care of us, but I’m telling you now that GOD is not just idly sitting by watching us struggle. He wants to help us and He is going to help us. We must lean and solely depend on GOD. His plan is for us is to live a life in abundance and it will happen. All of God’s children are suffering all over the world.

Jesus suffered and died on the cross for all of our sins. He was beaten, His side was riven, he bared His own cross, He wore a crown of thorns, etc. It was so much that He had to endure and suffer because He loved us so much. So next time, when you are experiencing hardships and sufferings and feel like giving up, remember how GOD suffered and His sufferings is nothing compared to what we suffer here on this earth. I would rather suffer and struggle inside of Christ than to suffer and struggle outside of Christ. I am rich in GOD and HE will provide all of our needs, “not some” but “ALL” Philippians 4:19! Blessings!

“Use Your Freedom to Love”

As children of God, we have been freed from the power of sin and all strongholds of the enemy. In Christ, we live a life of freedom-free from all forms of bondage. We are no longer slaves to guilt and shame. We are free to live lives filled with joy in Christ. But Paul admonished the Galatians- and us as well- not to use our liberty to fulfill the desires of our flesh. These desires are anything that are contrary to God and what He stands for. The last things we should want is to use our freedom to indulge in things that are against God, our Father.

Instead, we are to focus on serving one another in Love. Love is the main thing that should be at the center of every gathering of believers. Love reflects the nature of God. As we love one another, in Christ, we are showing the world evidence of God’s existence. Love is a rare thing in this world because of the evil that abounds in those who are under the devil’s influence. When we live our love out loud, in our actions and our words, we are calling the world to attention. We are making them aware of a better life- a life in Christ.

All of the law that was written in the Old Testament is fulfilled in “Love your neighbor as you love yourself”. The same things that you desire for yourself should be the things that you desire for other people. The love and care that you give yourself should be the love you give to others and more. When you love your neighbor you do not desire to inflict any harm on them. To do so would be to cause a great travesty. If we treat each other maliciously, like the devil would want us to, we will end up destroying each other and the report of God. We cannot preach and teach of God and His love if we are constantly at one another’s throats. That is not the way we are supposed to live. We are meant to look out for one another, encourage one another, and support one another in all times and seasons. That is the love God desires us to give to one another.
